Dear Anthony Hamilton:

I've had time to digest your new album. I really didn't get the same feeling that I got from your previous works, but I can say that the title track is definitely a hit. I hope someone decides to actually put one of your hits on the radio this time.

Sincerely,
pee-wee
I'm a lifelong Republican. I believe in small government, low taxes, and telling people (and the government) to mind their own damn business, not mine.

However, after the last eight years, I'm not convinced. Suddenly we have bigger government, more debt (which will almost surely be followed by more taxes) and the government is coming after all of us with every intrusive tool except a proctoscope (and that may be on the drawing board.)

So, this is your big chance to convince me - is it time to switch? Give me a reason.

Not an "against" reason, like "Republicans are all evil white people and they're all fascists and they just want to play golf and club baby seals while they watch black people pick cotton AIEEEEEEEE I can't stand it!"

I'm talking about a "for" reason. Something that makes sense. Give it at least a try. Come on. You can do it. :)
Dear Harry Reid:

It is funny how one person with access to the media can turn a discussion about corruption into a discussion about race. He (or they if you want to be technical) made you look like a political amatuer. If you are not careful, some other individuals may use their six minutes of fame to do the same. There are other issues out here that can be reframed in ways that exposes political posturing for what it is.

Sincerely,
pee-wee

I haven't been able to get to this site for a while now . . . great to be back!

Look, this Israeli operation in Gaza has to stop. It's just killing a bunch of civilians. The USA is giving around $5 billion in military grants to Israel every year. That should stop too.

The Gaza rockets are deplorable but we all (should) know this conflict has been going on a long time.

Two wrongs don't make a right. Send Gaza food and medicine, not bombs. Revenge leads to more revenge, it's like pouring gasoline on a fire . . .
Dear Paul Street:

I love your use of the word "resume". A lot of people in the fantasy-based community are going to try to use this piece of legislation or that piece of legislation as proof that Harvey Dent and the photo-op coalition are really on our side. They don't seem to understand that the current democratic party exists to marginalize liberal policy advocates. They willfully forget that most politicians are lawyers who know how to use language that creates loopholes in any law, executive order, or judicial order. Thank you once again for exposing the "progressive" fairy tale that is Harvey Dent. If this was common knowledge, David Axelrod would have to find a new puppet in the regressive republican party.

Sincerely,
pee-wee
Dear David Axelrod:

This is change, but this is not change that we can believe in. If your DNC puppet continues on this path, people are going to start asking questions about your other puppet in the White House. Most of us in the reality-based community already knew that the stuff about taking on the special interests was just campaign rhetoric. I may not like the direction that the national party (minus Howard Dean) is taking on corporate donors, but it is a bitter-sweet feeling to know that some folks in the fantasy-based community will have to evaluate the methods they use to judge politicians. And please........ don't respond back with your usual electoral jargon. Your White House puppet's poll numbers are irrelevant. It takes time for reality to set in.

Sincerely,
pee-wee
I have no comment for an idiotic, redneck who became famous.

P.S.: He is covering the Mid-East Crisis.

Seeking Thoughts… Please, respond if you have the opportunity.

What is the Difference between a Government whose laws do not respect religion, and a Government whose laws respect religion?

It would seem that the laws need to be broken down in order to determine the truth. Between those who do, and those who don’t. Sounds pretty simple, except there are a lot of Governments who do respect religion, and very few that do not. (Including our own)

Religion isn’t just about what God you believe in. If that were the case, then I think it would be obvious to say that everyone believes in God, and some do not believe a God exists. But if you think of God as nature itself, then everyone would believe in God, because I don’t think nature is a deniability. So now, assuming God IS nature, responsible for life itself… Creating the heaven and the Earth, animal and man, etc. etc.   Read More »

It's time to step up to the plate.

Find and event or create one:

"Every time our nation faces crisis, our national experience has shown Americans rise to the challenge. While government has an important role to play in helping rekindle our economy and addressing the problems of a distressed nation, President-elect Obama believes each of us, as Americans, have a responsibility to do what we can for our communities and fellow citizens. We are one nation.

The United States is once again at a crossroads and that is why the President-elect hopes to use the occasion of his Inauguration to rally our nation to commit to service in our communities. We are asking for your organization's participation in meeting this challenge.

In 1994, Congress transformed the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday into a national day of community service to further commemorate a man who lived his life in service to others. As a tribute to that legacy and the very real needs of our nation, the President-elect and Vice President-elect will launch a national organizing effort on the eve of their Inauguration to engage Americans in service. This national day of service will fall on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, January 19, 2009 and, unlike past calls to service, President-elect Obama will ask Americans to do more than just offer a single day of service to their cities, towns and neighborhoods. He will ask all of us to make an ongoing commitment to our communities. Never has it been more important to come together in shared purpose to tackle the common challenges we face.

The call will go to all Americans to organize service projects and join others at events in their communities. As the Co-chairs of the Presidential Inaugural Committee, we invite you and your organization to join other Americans to organize service projects in your communities. The Presidential Inaugural Committee will offer Americans a new website to help promote your events and for Americans to make their commitments, build communities, find opportunities to serve and share their results. These can be events that orient people to your organization's work, engage people in direct service, or bring people together to reflect on Dr. King's legacy and how they can commit to becoming more engaged citizens. Please see the attached information on how to get involved.

We have a great opportunity to set the tone for the next four years and I know you will rise to the challenge. Thank you for all your support."  PEOTUS Obama

NEW DELHI/ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - India warned its citizens on Friday it was unsafe to travel to Pakistan and the prime minister met his military chiefs, while Pakistan canceled army leave and moved some troops from its western border.

The travel warning marked a dramatic rise in tension between the nuclear-armed neighbors after last month's attack on Mumbai that killed 179 people and which India has blamed on Islamist militants based in Pakistan.

It followed media reports in Pakistan and India that "several" Indian nationals had been held in the last two days after bombings in the Pakistani cities of Lahore and Multan.

"Indian citizens are therefore advised that it would be unsafe for them to travel (to) or be in Pakistan," India's Foreign Ministry spokesman said in a statement.

Another Foreign Ministry official contacted by Reuters said the warning referred to all travel to Pakistan...   Read More »
Currently firms are using government funds to continue with their malfeasance. Taxpayers are being ripped off. The law exists to recover these funds from stockholders or anyone. Instead of subsidizing stockholders we should recover stolen funds. The objective of management is to increase shareholder wealth. They have done so to the extent that the firms are insolvent. Now they have stolen funds that were to secure these firms solvency. Piercing the veil is in order to recover stolen funds. We never should have subsidized shareholders to begin with. These firms are attempting to restrain trade, increase price, and export to our detriment while pleading for subsidy. Piercing the veil is necessary in order to weed out thieves who are looting corporations via kickback schemes, distributions that cause insolvency, and out and out bribery of public officials. These are the reasons for the law. The law needs to be to be upheld in these cases.
We may never recover from this hole they dug.
But we will climb to the top with a American tug.
The republican party have destroyed all that matters
They deserve nothing more but to hold the damn ladder.

But his voice did change, along with a smile.
Thinking of the bills that soon would be filed.
Protect those who are old and young alike
Restore our honor and our military might.

Protect our planet, and clean our air.
While creating a surplus we can leave to our heirs
Fix our economy, and health care for all.
And honor those who fought, and those who fall.

Obama sprang to his feet, to his team he gave a shout.
The challenges seem impossible, hard work needed no doubt
But I heard him exclaim ere he talked and ran.
Hey! It's not just a slogan, YES WE CAN!
"Barack Be Good"

"Times have changed. In 1996, President Bill Clinton, under siege from the right, declared that the era of big government is over. But President-elect Barack Obama, riding a wave of revulsion over what conservatism has wrought, has said that he wants to make government cool again."

Myself, I'm not commenting on where Barack vacations. Someone I know is, by chance,
staying on the same beach. Would enjoy googling vicariously. Also, if Caroline Kennedy thinks she can fill Hillary's shoes, I say why not let her try.   Read More »
Twas the Night Before Inauguration
By John Cobarruvias
BayAreaHouston.blogspot.com

T'was the night before inauguration and what to my dismay
The market was tanking, I lost my 401K!
The stocks were hung, in downfall they stuck
While Bush did nothing, a truly lame duck

The republicans were nestled, their heads in the sand
With visions of defeat of the republican brand.
And Cheney with his gun, his heart a pace
Looking for someone, to shoot in the face.

When out on the house floor, there came such a clatter
I sprang to the internets to find what's the matter.
Away to my screen I ran with a flash
Hoping the market, didn't crash.

The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow
Showed me someone I needed to know.
When what to my eyes, I paused, with a comma
But a vision of hope, It was Barack Obama!

With excitement and conviction in each of his steps
I wondered what he and his el ves, w ould do next.
More rapid than eagles his appointments they came
And he whistled and shouted, and called them by name.

Now Emanuel! Now, Dashle! Now Richardson and Biden!
On, Clinton , On Napolitano, and Gates, no sense in hiding!
To fix the economy, our reputation and more.
And to stop the killing of this unnecessary war.

As Obama stood still, the republicans they trembled
Remembering 8 years of a disaster they had assembled.
They've broken our banks, and doubled our debt.
They scared us to death with weapons of threats.

They squandered a surplus, They started a war.
They shredded our constitution, littered on the floor.
They attack our unions, our immigrants and those who are gay.
They claim to be Christians, yet on the sick they prey.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas yesterday, and will have a wonderful New Year!

Here’s one of the reasons our economy is in such a mess.  Congress has given out about $350 billion to banks with no restrictions on how it is spent and no accounting of where the money has gone.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081222/ap_on_bi_ge/meltdown_secrets

These are the same senators who pissed and moaned about how some auto workers are making too much money and need to take pay cuts.  $350 billion with no strings to the bankers but the poor guy who works hard and is trying to raise his family on about $60,000, needs to have his pay cut.  We wouldn’t want him taking the family out for dinner or to see a movie.

Give credit to Bush and the Republicans, they knew they wouldn’t be in office but they’ve managed to pay their buddies anyways.

When George Herbert Walker Bush famously announced the New World Order, I naively thought he meant that from then on, January 1991, the nations of the globe would purchase and pay for what they wanted from others, rather than attempt to take them by force. The Saddam Husseins of the world were to be taught that lesson and no more would the invasion of another country be countenanced.

Much later, when Donald Rumsfeld, the Secretary of Defense for Bush the Younger, addressed Congress, it became clear that what was meant was that from now on instead of Old Europe, the New World, and, specifically, the behemoth sitting astride the North American continent, would be giving the orders and the nations of the world would have to do what they were told.   Read More »
