Dean: Bush Stays The Course In Montana And Nevada
November 3, 2006One day after Vice President Cheney stumped in Montana for scandal-plagued GOP Senator Conrad Burns, President Bush will also appear in Montana today to help Burns’ struggling campaign. Bush will also campaign in Nevada, a key swing state, on behalf of embattled Republican gubernatorial candidate Jim Gibbons. Not long ago, both races were considered safe Republican seats, but now both Republican candidates are facing legal and ethical problems.
Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean issued the following statement on President Bush’s failed ‘stay the course’ strategy in Iraq and the Republican culture of corruption:
“President Bush’s loyalty to the architects of his failed Iraq policy that continues to create more terrorists is further evidence of his determination to stay the course at all costs. While the President says he listens to the generals, he clearly hasn't been paying attention to generals who have called for Rumsfeld to resign. Our troops and their families deserve a new direction. Democrats are offering the American people a new direction that includes a strategy for victory in Iraq that redeploys our troops to better fight the war on terror.”
