Organizers in the Morning

Posted by on May 22, 2006 at 10:34 AM

It's training day today. 30 Organizers, from 8 states, are here for an intensive two-day training, which will cover everything from building precinct teams, to communicating a message, to developing an election day plan - the nuts and bolts of an effective 50-State Strategy.

I just listened in on the morning session, a review of the 50-State Strategy, and I could smell the energy, the excitement and the commitment in the room. Signing on to be an organizer is a big step for a campaign staffer - making a multi-year commitment, instead of the usual few months, is a big change from the vagabond campaign lifestyle.

Yet that is what these 30, and 120 others, have done. They've committed to working in states across the country, from the reddest red to the bluest blue to build a party infrastructure that will take back the country.

Events like the April 29th National Organizing Day are just the beginning of what we can accomplish when we are fighting in every district, in every state, and these young men and women are going to be on the front-lines.

Praise the Lord!!!!!!

How wonderful to see people standing up for democracy in the neo-con fascist world we the Working and Poor Class find ourselves in and have decided to no longer accept the RIGHT-WING confidence con of "confidence without merit".

Merit in government is an absolute necessity and the Political RIGHT has shown that on the whole they have no merit or character. The Political LEFT is not going to be conned one minute more.

My prayer:
May God Bless Governor Howard Dean and each and every one of these brave individuals with wisdom and understanding and keep them safe from all harm as they go forth and do mighty works for our beloved United States bringing democracy back for All the people. In the name of Jesus. AMEN

The previous thread speaks to a restive GOP base.

Well, the Democratic base is restive, too. The stand-around Bush appeasers in the Democratic Party, who are myriad, ought to be nervous and justifiably so.

Eight billion a month is an obscene price to pay for Bush's stupid "war", but the dead and maimed are a price too high to calculate.

ChuckWisconsin:

Myriad is right. I think the only exceptions are Howard Dean, Dennis Kuccinich and Edward Kennedy. I isn't feasible that we the Political LEFT can get rid of all the RIGHT-WING APPEASERS at once, but we do need to zero in and get rid of as many as is possible.

Oh, I think everyone in the party will want to rally around this idea. It's time to get cracking. The voters are looking for change and people willing to stand up and say so.

INTEGRITY & ETHICS

The Bush administration, together with its cronies in the Republican-led House of Representatives, have not only lost touch with the American people - they're devoid of any concern for honesty, integrity, and fairness. In cahoots with the thugs of the K Street Project, House Republicans have granted lobbyists for special interest groups inappropriate access to the floor of Congress, even allowing them to draft legislation.

Too often, those who are supposed to be our Representatives have traded their votes for campaign contributions, listening to the voices of corporations and special interests rather than those of the American people who elected them.

Even more serious is House Republicans' lack of fairness. When the powerful ignore the needs of our most vulnerable populations, they subvert the promise of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and greatest traditions of our American heritage.

How can our nation be a beacon of light and hope for the world when our "leaders" have lost any sense of compassion, fairness, and concern for those most at risk? The agenda of the Bush administration and House Republicans - cutting taxes for the wealthiest while cutting essential services for ordinary citizens - is immoral, unfair, and profoundly un-American.

Responsible Action in Iraq

We must investigate the intelligence that led to the war in Iraq and press the Administration for straight, honest answers on the current state of our operations in Iraq. We must establish a definite timeline for troop withdrawal with clear benchmarks of progress.

Real National Security

The 9/11 Commission gave Congress a failing grade on protecting America from another terrorist attack. This is completely unacceptable. We absolutely must protect our borders, our ports, and our nuclear and chemical plants. We must protect both American lives and the American way of life, and again show other nations that we can promote our democratic ideals without betraying our principles. Together, we can reclaim America's leadership role in the world.

From Tom

Dear Fellow New Mexicans:

Do I want to run for a fifth term in Congress in 2006? You bet! When I think of all I was able to do – even with the Democrats in the minority – imagine what I could accomplish when the Democrats get their turn.

The Udall Amendment to defend our forests and wildlife sparked a nation-wide grass-roots media blitz of support and prompted an editorial in the New York Times. The Maloney-Udall-Shays Bill will protect our civil liberties by establishing the independent review board recommended by the 9-11 Commission. My interest in directing more attention to preventative health care - now only five percent of health care expenditures – is a legislative priority.

Now it looks like 2006 could be a big year for Democrats. The Republicans are vulnerable. It has already been reported that they are drunk with power, riddled with hypocrisy, seriously out of touch and just plain wrong on the issues.

Great job on meeting and formulating a plan. The most important point I want to emphasize is, let's speak with one voice and continue to stay on message. I hate to say it but the reason John Kerry was defeated was because he never came across as a clear and concise individual. To win, we must have a plan, that is flexible but always gets the message out on what we stand for.

The Senate has sold out the American citizen in one fell swoop. Giving away our social security, giving citizenship to lawbreakers who have fraudulent documents, steal our identities, bring in diseases, drugs, trash our flag, our language, our anthem, our neighborhoods, our cities, and our states. Illegal groups have influenced our politics and they cannot even vote yet!!The bill even proposes to not penalize employers who hire illegal immigrants.
Who's paying for all this? The American taxpayer. Who has to live with these people? The American taxpayer.
Polticians do not live in avarage American neighborhoods. They do not have to deal with illegal immigrants every day. They all go home to insulated neighborhoods and leave their constituents to DEAL WITH IT!!!!!!!!
American citizens have less clout than Illegal immigrants in the US, and that's because of the Democrats, and the Liberal news media who does not truly inform the public what the Senate bill really contains. The Liberal news media did not show their viewers full coverage of the marches, but I saw and heard on the Internet. "THIS IS OUR COUNTRY, NOT YOURS". Hispanics are calling us GRINGOS, telling WHITEY to go back to Europe, accusing us of stealing their land, and threatening to take back Texas, Arizona, and California. As far as America is concerned the Senate is making all their threats a reality.
Is it possible that there is some kind of virus that has infected the majority of the Senate? That is the only possible answer because it is very hard to believe that the very people who elected you to Office are being SOLD DOWN THE RIVER.
GOD BLESS THE MINUTEMEN, NUMBERS USA, FAIRUS, RIGHT MARCH AND ALL THE OTHER GROUPS WHO ARE TRYING TO MAINTAIN SANITY AND PROTECT AMERICAN CITIZENS AGAINST A GOVERNMENT WHO NO LONGER "STANDS FOR THE PEOPLE"!!!!!!!!
